WHAT IS A REMIX?

http://prezi.com/wm9kzskremip/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy

What exactly is a remix you may ask? Well it is an original text that has been altered by having something added to it or deleted from it. However, my belief is that nothing is original as most producers find inspiration or ideas from somewhere else. But for this post I shall be discussing music remix in particular. They are one of the most played forms of music by popular culture today. Whether it’s at a club or just at home, there are so many music remix’s available to listen to on YouTube, SoundCloud etc. In my Prezi presentation, I discuss the brief history of remix music, how it has evolved since its origination and also displayed some different examples of music remix’s of popular culture and also of one shown in my lecture.

  1. Your Prezi is very informative and gives a great overview of the history of remixing. I like the examples you have provided, they help make the concept clearer. I think that with the large amount of sites available for people to share their works, remixing will continue to evolve and more people will begin to experiment with it. Great post!

  2. Hi Lauren! I really enjoyed reading your blog post and prezi! The information you put in the prezi including the definition as well as the history and evolution on remixes was excellent and the short and concise nature of the prezi as well as the two youtube videos included kept it interesting and engaging. As well as just music remixes, you also could have included video remixes such as this one, which often use funny videos people put up on youtube and incorporate sounds from those videos with music to create video remixes – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TqQalGxk3c

  3. Hi Lauren. I really enjoyed your blog post, especially your Prezi. I found that you included the necessary information needed to inform any sort of audience about remixes. The fact that you touched on the history of remixes was a really nice touch, with the entire Prezi also being the exact right size to keep the audience’s interest, and to keep them also engaged. The YouTube videos within the Prezi was another great aspect, as well as the text of the blog post adding some additional information that may have been needed for some. In terms of improvement, mentioning the idea of copyright in relation to remixes would have added an extra layer to your post. I’ll add a link below which further goes into the issue. However, with that said, I really did enjoy this blog post!
